Mike Timm
Mike grew up in Virginia Beach, helping mom throw gourmet parties and learning the finer points of preparing meats and seafood from dad, who cooked in the family restaurant down in Jacksonville, Fla. Initially, there was much more tasting than helping, but eventually, with a little patience, it stuck. As a teenager in the early 80's, Mike hitched on with the Chart House Restaurant, at the time one of the fastest growing restaurant groups in the country. It quickly became clear that this was going to be the career of choice. Mike has been either a Chef or Manager in some great locations including O'Leary's Seafood, The Country Club of Hilton Head, Middleton Tavern, Love Point Cafe & Café Iguana to name a few. After nearly 30 years of professional experience, there isn't much that Mike can't or won't make happen for his clients. He has consulted on numerous restaurant openings, written a magazine column, and trained hundreds of employees, but he will tell you that his greatest achievement is raising two very respectable young men, Sean & Nick, who both cook and cater for him from time to time. Mike leads our catering department and the menu development for both It's the Pits and Kent Island Catering.
Doug Ward
If you have lived around Annapolis or Kent Island for any amount of time you either know Doug, or you know someone who does. Doug was raised in South County, and in some form or another, lived and worked in this area of Maryland his entire life, finally settling down on Kent Island in the late 90's. Throughout his long career in the beer industry, Doug experimented with one of his great passions, BBQ. (Country music, fishing and good beer would be a few others) There came a point where the beer business lost it's luster, so after some backyard adventures, tons of trial and error, and a series of neighborhood taste tests, Doug opened a roadside BBQ trailer called "It's the Pits" on Rt 8 here in Stevensville. Quickly, it became the local's spot for "real" BBQ. He takes tremendous pride in all his homemade salads, home cooking specials, hearty soups, and anything else he sets his mind to. He has a fantastic palate for good food and is one of the best true cooks we know. Tasting is believing. He is our official Smoke Master and our fearless leader.

When we started It's the Pits BBQ & Seafood, our goal was that when locals thought about good food and catering, one of the first thoughts that came to their mind, if not the first, would be us. To a large degree, we have achieved that goal. The local word of mouth is outstanding.
Now, as the word goes out beyond Kent Island, we are proud to expand our products and services with the sister company Kent Island Catering. We still have our humble storefront carryout operation, and we still serve up the best BBQ in the area. We are not, and never will be, pretentious. Our new goal, however, is to showcase our more elegant side. We've been wearing jeans for a while now; it's time to break out the suit and tie.
Great food, not just good food, served by caring, attentive professionals with our client's comfort always in mind. We've always done it. Now we have a name for it. Kent Island Catering.
